About the rule
What it is
Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, signed in 2004, requires a common, secure and reliable form of identification for federal employees and contractors. NIST’s Federal Information Processing Standard 201, Personal Identity Verification of Federal Employees and Contractors, sets the standard for the PIV credential used to access federal facilities and information systems; the current version is FIPS 201-3.

Federal HR "Onboarding Passport"
The federal hiring process is notoriously slow, involving complex forms (SF-85/86), fingerprinting, and background checks. This platform streamlines the pre-employment journey, integrating with OPM systems to track progress and reduce the "time-to-seat" for new civil servants, helping agencies compete for talent.
