Family Offices & UHNW
For single family offices, multi-family offices and private trust companies, where one forged wire instruction or one leaked statement does lasting damage.
A family office invests like an institution and runs inside a private household. Its records are unusual: trust deeds and wills, entity structures several layers deep, a ledger of art, aircraft and property, and a consolidated view of the family's total net worth. Its staff include pilots, house managers and assistants who are not on the office network. Moraph Family Office Solutions secures those records and the people around them.
The failures that cost most here are specific. A business email compromise sends a wire on a forged instruction from a principal. The net worth view reaches someone outside the family. A trustee cannot show who saw or approved a trust document.
Payments and impersonation
Bill pay and the general ledger (Bill.com or Sage Intacct) are set to require two approvals on every outgoing wire. Security Awareness Training (KnowBe4, run by Moraph) sends staff simulated phishing built on fake wire requests, payment changes and executive impersonation. Training reduces the chance that someone acts on a forged request; it does not prevent it, and call-back verification remains essential. We also audit and secure the devices of household staff, pilots and assistants, because a weak password there can bypass the office's own controls.
Who can see the family's picture
Consolidated reporting in Addepar, Black Diamond or Masttro is protected with multi-factor authentication and access logging, so the total net worth view is open only to the principal and the CIO or others the family names. Identity Access Management (Okta, run by Moraph) provides single sign-on, multi-factor authentication and leaver controls for the applications that support it. Applications that support neither modern sign-in standards nor an Okta integration stay outside and are recorded as exceptions.
Wealth Transfer & Estate Visualization maps who owns what across trusts, entities and individuals, and models strategies such as GRATs and CLATs with the assumptions written down. Attorneys and tax advisers keep their role: the product gives no legal or tax advice, does not draft trust instruments, models US federal estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes only, and is not a trust accounting system.
Single family offices: a fractional CIO and CISO
-
Principals: dark web monitoring for threats to their physical safety, secured personal devices, and removal of personal information from data broker sites.
-
Properties, including yachts: networks where security cameras are kept separate from entertainment systems.
-
Younger family members: training on social media and digital footprints.
Multi-family offices: keeping each family's data apart
When an office serves several families, the design problem is segregation. Each family's data sits in its own cloud environment, separate from every other family's. Relationship managers work from virtual desktops, so sensitive files do not sit on a laptop taken to client meetings. Families receive performance reports and share documents through a client portal rather than email.
Private trust companies: a record of trustee actions
A trust company must be able to show that its trustees acted with due care under the trust instrument. Each view, print and share of a trust document is logged. The Board Governance & Packet Portal gives committee members their packets in a reading room and records votes and written consents with date and author, so a Distribution Committee can approve remotely. Whether a vote is valid under the trust instrument or state law is a question for your counsel. For regulated trust companies we also prepare the IT compliance reporting that state banking commissioners require.
Support and outside vendors
Family office clients reach our service desk, run by Global Resilience Operations, on a private line, including principals who cannot access funds while traveling. We review the cybersecurity of the family's third parties, from private aviation brokers to art logistics companies.
Before any family data reaches us, you can review our SOC 2 Type II report, ISO/IEC 27001 certificate and control mappings under NDA. Ask for the evidence pack in our Trust Center.
