The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is the private, not-for-profit organization that accredits residency and fellowship programs in the United States. Sponsoring institutions and their programs must meet its Institutional Requirements, Common Program Requirements and specialty-specific requirements, including limits on clinical and educational work hours.
